Family Activities

Things that Happen Weekly:
Sundays	9:50 - 10:45am	Sunday School 3 year olds and 4 year olds study lessons each week that include bible stories, games, and free play. Kindergarten through 4th grades rotate through 4 differently themed rooms in FaithQuest Rotation Sunday School. 5th grade dives into hands-on Bible exploration - connecting the lessons we learn to the lunchroom! 6th Grade is the year that our students go through the Confirmation process - and while these students make a pretty large commitment to attend every week, including special trips and homework - visitors are welcome too! 7th - 8th grade, 9th - 10th grades, and 11th - 12th grades all have their own classes that explore life, faith, and meaning through Bible study and multi-media. Wednesdays	5:30 - 7pm	Fellowship Night Dinner begins at 5:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. Families are invited to eat dinner with other families in the church. Please register your family for the weekly dinner that you do not have to cook or clean up! An entertaining and educational program will begin at 6:15. Children who are too young to participate in choir may join the childcare staff after dinner for fun crafts and games. Children's Choir meets from 6:15 to 7pm. This wonderful program teaches excellence in singing and a love of praising God through music! We have three choirs that serve children ages 4 - 6th Grade. Chancel Adult Choir begins at 7pm. Childcare is available for families who wish to participate in this great ministry!

Coming Soon:
Sunday February 26, 2012	12:30pm - 3:30pm $10/child	Families with Children and Tweens/Teens may join in for a bounciful good time. We'll meet at 12:30 in the High School parking lot and caravan to Premier Athletic's West Knoxville gym for instruction and free gym time from 1pm - 3pm. Plan on jumping, climbing, bouncing, swinging, and laughing a lot! Adults are not covered by the gym's insurance - so adults will have to be content to be chaperones and spotters this time! Sunday March TBA	2pm - 4pm	March Madness is back! We have brought back the popular Basketball Camp from 2011 - and you can expect more of the same. Learn to dribble, shoot, and pass with your Children and Family Ministries team. Snack will be served. To join in - contact Kate. More details to come!
Sunday April 8th	Easter! Jesus is Risen!	We will celebrate Christ's rising with crafts, games, three easter egg hunts on the front lawn. Join us at 9:45 - the hunts begin at 10:30 sharp! Saturday April 28th	11am - 4pm	The Children and Family Ministries team will be hosting a booth at Oak Ridge's Earth Day Festival at the Civic Center. We encourage all First UMC families to attend the festival and to learn together about ways to preserve God's green earth - and to be better stewards of our number one resource!
Sunday May 6th	11am Traditional Service	Confirmation Sunday: Come to witness and welcome the newest members of our church - the 6th grade Confirmation Class.
Friday - Sunday June 1st - 3rd	Camping Trip	All-Church Camping Trip: Camping at Indian Boundary Campground near Tellico! Bring your bikes - everyone welcome! Sign up with Kate Meacham kmeacham@fumcor.org
Monday - Friday June 18th - 22nd	9am - Noon	Vacation Bible School: Join us for Operation Overboard - where kids dare to go deep with God! This week-long VBS is an interactive, energizing, Bible-based program that gives children a chance to go deep in their faith through crafts, games, science experiments and bible storytelling. Volunteers needed. Registration begins May 1st. Children ages 3 (by 9/30) - Rising 6th grades. (Middle School students will be invited to join in with after-vbs activities called Middle School Mania, 12 - 3pm M-Th)
8/31 - 9/2	Camping	All-Church Camping Trip at Hot Springs, NC. Some cabins available - tents sites - one RV site. Hot tubs reserved.
