Ash Wednesday Services, February 22, 2012

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, the season of repentance before Easter. The minister marks the forehead of each participant with black ashes in the shape of a cross, which the worshipper traditionally retains until washing it off after sundown. The symbolism echoes the ancient tradition of throwing ash over one's head signifying repentance before God.

FUMC offers two services of ashes:
12:05 p.m. in the Chapel
6:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary
