Divorce Recovery Group
A Divorce Recovery Group is being offered at First United Methodist Church, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, in partnership with St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, for anyone who has experienced a recent or not so recent divorce. The group will begin on Monday, April 9 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, and will meet for seven Mondays through May 21.
The group will provide persons a safe, supportive community in which to express and explore the many reactions that come in the aftermath of divorce. Persons can share their experiences, struggles, concerns, sorrows, fears, anger, joy, hopes, and dreams to the level of their own comfort. Meetings will be in a relaxed informal setting. There is no cost for participation, however, there is a $22 material fee. Scholarships are available if needed. The materials, “Rebuilding: When the Relationship Ends” and “Rebuilding Workbook: When the Relationship Ends” by Bruce Fisher and Robert Alberti, will be available at the first session. Dr. David Lovett will lead the Divorce Recovery Group. Dr. Lovett received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His Master of Divinity is from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, North Carolina. He received his Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, Illinois.
To register, call First United Methodist Church and leave your name and telephone number with the office staff (865-483-4357) or email Rev. Crystal Smith at csmith@fumcor.org. The group is sponsored by the Adult Ministry of First United Methodist Church. |
