Friday Night Live: Parents Night Out, Kids Night In
Friday Night Live is a program run through the Children and Family Ministries at FUMC and is open to any family who might be able to use a night off.
Our professional staff and church volunteers provide a fun, safe night of activity for children ages 6 weeks through 6th grade once a month from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
You can register a month at a time—or save 20% by registering for all 10 events. When you schedule your date night around FNL, you always have a babysitter!
The FNL program follows the Oak Ridge City Schools inclement weather schedule. If school is cancelled on the FNL date, we will be closed as well. If we must close due to inclement weather, a sustained loss of power, water, phone, or illness, we will notify you as soon as possible via the Facebook page and/or by email. Unexpected closure dates are not made up and fees will not be reimbursed.
To Register Your Child:
8/11, 9/8, 10/20*, 11/10, 12/8, 1/12, 2/9, 3/9, 4/13, 5/11
*October FNL is moved to the third Friday of the month due to Fall Break.
FNL runs from 6pm to 10pm, children may be signed in at 5:45pm. Families should enter by the covered entrance near Vienna Road. Inside these doors you will find the Registration Table, where parents should sign their children in and out each evening.
Please be sure to bring dinner for your children each evening. We eat from 6—6:30 pm.
Parents may pick-up early if desired. The outer doors will be locked until 9:45, but a worker's cell phone # will be posted for you to call and let us know you need in to the building. All children must be signed out by 10:00 pm.
Be sure that you have indicated the best number at which to reach you on the sigh-in sheet for the rare emergency call.
Infants and Toddlers
Younger children are cared for by FUMC Child Care staff members in a baby-friendly atmosphere. We play with toys, listen to fun music, and enjoy age-appropriate snacks.
Preschool Aged Children
Preschoolers are grouped in one or two rooms depending on numbers with First UMC Child Care staff members. We eat dinner and then move onto toys and games. Each FNL has a theme and will have games, crafts, etc. that go along with our theme for the month. A snack and quiet time or a movie follow the evening activities.
Elementary and Middle School aged kids arrive and eat dinner in the Fellowship Hall with their assigned First UMC Child Care staff members. We then move onto our theme activities for the evening which include crafts, cooking, and active games in the Gym or outside.
At 8pm we have a snack and then head downstairs for movies. We only show G or PG rated movies. Appropriateness is based on reviews from sources like Common-Sense Media.
