FUMC offers many opportunities for service, but we believe that worship is the most important event of each week.
We worship in two distinct styles, and each is meaningful and moving in its own way.

Traditional Worship
Sundays 8:45am and 11:00am, Sanctuary

In traditional worship you can expect to hear organ or piano music, to sing hymns, and to be led by the youth choir at 8:45 or the chancel choir at 11:00.  Pastors wear robes and children help to acolyte (bring in the Light of Christ) and be crucifer (carry the cross in during the processional hymn) .

Contemporary Worship
Sundays 11:00am, Multipurpose Room

Here you can expect to hear a live band with guitars, drums, and vocalists leading the congregation in  music - whose lyrics appear on large screens.  Occasionally a song that you had not considered to be "worship" music will be heard - meaningful music can be found in many places. We also use videos to help illustrate the pastor's message and there are some occasions when we pray using written liturgy (words read aloud).

Many families attend this service - and children can often be found dancing along to the music in the aisles.  Children's Church is offered for children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade each week, except on Communion Sunday, during the 11:00am Contemporary Worship Service. Parents may register their children to attend as they enter the Multipurpose Room.  Children are dismissed from the worship service at a set point to go to Room 304 for a separate learning time. This is completely optional and families are always free to have their children remain in the Multipurpose Room with them for the entire worship services.  Materials for children to use during worship are available by asking an usher.

Both services offer communion on the first Sunday of each month. You do not need to be a member of the church to receive communion.
Child care is provided free of charge for children in kindergarten and younger on the lower floor of the church.

FUMC offers various prayer services throughout the day built around the ancient monastic canonical hours. These short services are located in the chapel and include prayers, psalms, scripture, and singing. All are welcome to join for any of the services. You are encouraged to call the church before to make sure these services are happening each day or visit the calendar page to make sure.
