You are invited to join us on Maundy Thursday, April 2, at 7:00 pm for a Seder Meal Service.
Christ in the Passover
The Seder Meal is the ritual feast that marks the beginning of Passover in the Jewish tradition. This year First United Methodist Church will experience a Seder Meal Worship service on Maundy Thursday called Christ in the Passover. This demonstration is visual, so you will actually see a table set with traditional Passover items. We will use Scripture as well as the visual items to walk through a Jewish Passover Seder, weaving the story of the Exodus together with the life, death and resurrection of Christ. The words Jesus spoke in the upper room come alive as each Hebraic item is carefully explained.
We would like to invite you and your family to join us for this Seder meal and take part in this meaningful worship experience. The Seder Meal is Thursday, April 2nd at 7:00pm at First United Methodist Church. Our service will last approximately one hour, and will be held in the multipurpose room. Participants will be seated at tables, and everyone will have samples of the symbolic food of the Seder meal. Please note that this is not a full "meal" - it is a tasting of the various elements with an explanation of their historical symbolism.
Due to the nature of the service and the preparation needs, we ask that you sign-up in advance for this worship service. There is no charge or fee, and childcare for younger children is provided. Questions may be directed to Crystal Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please register below or by calling the church office at (865) 483-4357.
