The Children's Choir is composed of students grades Pre-K through 6th grade. This group rehearse on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00 pm, in the Music Room. Choristers learn the fundamentals of music, share in fellowship, learn lessons from the Bible and other church foundations, and share in the ministry of worship together. The Children's Choir sings on Sunday several times throughout the year, either in the contemporary worship or the traditional service. They participate in the large Christmas concerts in December.
The Junior Choir is composed of students grades 3rd through 6th grade.They rehearse on Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:00 pm, in the Music Room. This choir sings on Sunday several times throughout the year, both in the contemporary worship or the traditional service. Learning a variety of repertoire, the Junior Choir sings music in all styles, preparing them to lead worship in multiple worship settings. They participate in the large Christmas concerts in December. In preparation for their time in the Parish Youth Choir, the Junior Choir takes a weekend-long mini-tour in the spring, singing concerts and doing service work.
The Parish Youth Choir of First United Methodist Church is comprised of students in grades 7-12 and serves as the primary worship choir for the 8:45 am service of worship. The choir rehearses weekly on Sundays from 5:30-6:00 pm in the Music Room. All are invited to participate! Join us.
The Parish Adult Choir of FUMC Oak Ridge is the primary worship choir for the church's 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. Comprised of over 30 members representing young adults to senior adults, the central goal of the choir is to worship God with its musical offerings. The choir participates in an annual Christmas concert with orchestra that is regarded as one of the finest in the area. Additionally, they have presented several major choral works with orchestra through the years. The Parish Adult Choir rehearses weekly on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm in the Music Room. All are invited to join!
They have appeared before the Holston Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church on several occasions, as well as the Tennessee American Choral Director’s Association, the Washington National Cathedral and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC. The choir has commissioned anthems by American composers David L. Brunner, Austin Lovelace, Alfred Fedak and Alice Parker. The members of the choir enjoy social activities which strengthen their bonds of friendship and fellowship in Jesus Christ.
The Wesley Singers is a small auditioned chamber ensemble that performs in services, concerts, and throughout the community. Auditions for the group take place in the spring and the group rehearses and performs in the fall and spring. In addition to the Scholarship Singers, there are four other members.
