Jesus is the light of the world. One of the deeply meaningful ways we remember and enact this is on Christmas Eve. Our worship space is dark except for the Christ Candle, and it is from the flame of the Christ Candle that we all light our own candles. This year, because of the pandemic, we will not be able to participate in the same way. However, that does not lessen the importance of the message that Jesus is, indeed, the light of the world, and on Christmas we remember that He is with us. Both Contemporary and Traditional services will be available on our church website (fumcor.org) under the Virtual Chapel tab. These will include the lighting of candles. As a way to reinforce the truth that we are together in spirit even when we are physically separated, we invite you to pick up a Christmas Eve candle from church. A bin of candles will be available in the Vienna Road welcome center, beginning Monday, December 21. After using the hand sanitizer next to the bin, take as many candles as you need so that on Christmas Eve we can remember we are all connected through the light and love of Christ. Merry Christmas, all!
